>>2656 >his hand points towards the mouse cursor when there's no weapon equipped You might want to limit that to within a small range, as that shit could look really weird when the player character is walking around. That nitpick aside, it's a good use of Godot's cutout animation, and I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with this.
>>2656 this reminds me of that game called My Friend Pedro (more specifically the browser demo from Newgrounds), used to play a lot of it back in the day

>>2659 haven't posted in a while, so here's what it looks like now
>>2659 >>2662 Yeah, that's much better. This has a lot of potential, although the nearness of the camera looks like it could be a bit too constrictive for a game like that. As it is now, you probably need to make really tight, constricted levels to keep offscreen ranged enemies from feeling either unfairly advantaged vs the player or stupidly short-sighted, and while that could certainly work if levels have enough verticality, it's something you gotta be aware of.

I added https://learnaifromscratch.github.io and https://functionalcs.github.io/curriculum to the General Dev Resources section, as they're pretty comprehensive followups to the archived /prog/ thread that's already in there, and Sister Miriam Joseph's Trivium to the Math and Logic section. It'd be nice to keep the OP on the smaller side, but if any of you have any suggestions for stuff to add (especially if it covers something the existing links don't), I'd be happy to toss a couple more things in there.

If any of you guys like puzzle games, https://nandgame.com/ is a neat little educational game. You start off building a nand gate out of relay switches, and from them you build other logic gates and progressively more complicated components to satisfy in-game specs until you eventually work your way up to a simple computer processor.

I've been working on this side project of mine for about a month, all done with my hand for the purposes of learning a new programming language and framework (ASP.NET). I'm not the most creative so I picked 4chan as a goal and I haven't got much but here's what I done so far: - Boards, Threads, Posts - Quotes, Backlinks, Previews - Greentext, pinktext, links - Account system One thing I did differently from all the rest is I made accounts mandatory to post, but accounts are not created with a username/password but instead have no PII besides a long hard to guess string. You request an identity, the server generates you a high entropy passkey, and you can use that on any device to identify yourself (or create as many new accounts as you want). You're able to view it again in settings and log in from another device using a QR code. I also added log-in through Steam for fun and it worked really well, I was actually surprised how easy it was to implement. Anyways... as soon as I began implementing moderation I stopped working on it. Not interested in reinventing the wheel and it quickly turned into busywork instead of learning. If I was to continue working on this I'd use something like Claude to write code for me. Since I understand the architecture required, I'd rather it just write the code for me instead of wasting an hour or two of my time on this. My interest is in programming but now I lowkemono have no clue what to do next besides nothing :\
>>3132 I forgot to add but my idea behind the pass key was to allow people to have a watchlist, notifications, (You)s, and post delete/edit across devices that doesn't rely on local storage. You'd be able to watch a thread on your desktop, then view it on your phone at work. It would also allow me to implement a media approval with trust that I see many other sites implement but in a non-intrusive way (I think).

i've worked on a lot of more sadly invisible stuff (code) but i'm finally on the track to begin working enemy AI. i'm thinking of going for a hybrid of behaviour trees with a bit of GOAP world state evaluation for enemy logic. I might use scriptableobjects for easier iteration, but i hope it works. also new thing i guess.
>>3132 From perspective of an imageboard admin, the biggest improvement over existing engines would be tools to combat spam. ASN banning, dynamic blocklists loaded from files (local or remote), shadow banning or delayed ban+delete based on banned phrases or even something fancy like image classifier to detect suspected CP and send a push notification to phone. I doubt anyone would use it over the tried and tested options, but it would make for a neat proof of concept.
>>3135 Interesting, I could implement all that in jschan since I'm familiar with that engine the most. Writing a new one has no benefits tbhdesu >I doubt anyone would use it over the tried and tested options Pretty much, I was doing this for myself to learn a technology I needed for work and it served it's purpose. I'd rather do something for myself instead but it was cool seeing it work
I've decided I will continue my project on the new engine and will use Claude to write it, since I already know what I need I just want to speed up the coding part. I have had a sort of a crisis lately regarding LLMs since everyone uses it at work, everyone I trust uses one, and when I try to talk about it people are completely indifferent to it. Nobody gives a fuck about programming by hand, only when it's art, and that really hurt me. But honestly I get it, people don't view programming as an art and for me it was always a hobby tinkering with stuff. I think using an LLM here will help me focus on what I enjoy most and that's designing systems and gluing things together, I am not good at 'from scratch' stuff but give me something broken and I can fix it. I guess I'll do that then, expect more slop here lol. I would appreciate any feedback from current/former admins or feature requests. P.S. I won't vibe code it, I will still review each diff line by line but a lot of web development is copy pasted crud pages and I do not enjoy that in an unpaid hobby project.
>>3134 >showcasing your models in orthographic perspective Pretty nice model, but that made me kek. Have automated planners seen much use in RTS AIs? I don't know jack about how they're usually written.

procrastinated AI development again but spent my day on a new gun. manual bolt cocking a la Red Orchestra with a working PIP scope and a built-in stadia rangefinder. i'm happy with it, i'll call it a day >>3141 it looks a little squished but it's the best way to get a picture of an object that has a lot of details in all 3 axes
(17.33 MB 1920x1080 2026-10-25_03-19-40.mp4)

>>3146 so kino, i don't know why more scopes don't use that type of rangefinder. reminds me of my days in arma sniping clueless niggas from a kilometer away
>>3147 In the optics business they call that a "choke rangefinder" or "stadiametric rangefinder," among other things. They are actually fairly common IRL in optical sights designed for a certain category of purpose. Not all of them are laid out exactly like that one. There are a wild profusion of designs. This one requires the user to measure objects 50cm across (that is, the width of an average adult male's shoulders) with each of the little horizontal bars going across the center below the center crosshairs. The reticle is designed for a sight that is to be mounted on certain very specific weapons, using certain very specific ammunition. Each of those horizontal bars is at a distance below the center corresponding to the trajectory of a bullet at that specific range. When zeroed at two hundred meters, the crossbars below the center are for three hundred, four hundred, five hundred, and six hundred. The crossbars located elsewhere on the reticle are each five milliradians from the center, which can be used to measure other objects and estimate the distance to them as well.
i want to have AI code a mod for 1.7.10 that lets me upload .fbx player models but i don't want to pay money to jew AI companies waaaaaaah
