That was more in the context of how much content they had available at release because they didn't want to keep it delaying for years until the game was as complete as it could be, but it does raise the question, how could they extend the gameplay without making it just "do the exact same thing you've done for the past 5 hours for yet another 5 hours to get new scenes and dialogue"?
Maybe implementing new systems for post-engagement and after childbirth, like learning to live together, accommodating to each character's unique needs, growing closer to their family, preparing a memorable wedding ceremony on theme with their likes, and raising your kid properly, so it's the kind of stuff you literally can't pre-farm early game, while also giving a perfect opportunity to expand on the MC's backstory because at the moment we actually know very little about him; but without completely dismissing the core of what's already there, for example if you're gonna start living together with your fiancée and eventually raise your own family, you would still need a bigger house upgrade.
