I finally got around to giving Isekai Janken Hero a shot. Right off the bat I was super impressed with the presentation: Fully animated (And uncensored!!!) CG with 3-4 CG for each enemy, voice acted in JP and CN, and every enemy has a unique janken-throwing animation which is an excellent touch. The writing came off as kind of cringey at first and the translation isn't perfect, but the protag being your average Capybara poster (Complete with very nearly losing to a fox) made it worthwhile. It also comes with an artbook PDF which is a fun little read.
Unfortunately, the gameplay is a special sort of atrocious. An RPS-RPG isn't a bad idea on its own but the execution is awful, it's clear no meaningful thought was put into the mechanics. Scissors being attack, paper being guard, and rock being heal means that 1. Guard beats heal(?) which beats attack(??) which beats guard(???) which is entirely nonsensical and unintuitive, and 2. The only way to deal damage is to use scissors, blocking or healing is effectively a waste of a turn. Luckily the damage scaling is also totally fucked, so by dumping your first few skill points into scissors and spamming that you can easily win in 3-4 turns and it becomes a nukige. Despite playing bad I still recommend it for the art since it doesn't take long to blitz through. The girls are cute and the scenes are varied, and there are a couple of lines that'll probably get a chuckle or two out of most of you.
