I didn't realize this connection at first, but I can see it. Though in the case of ratatoskr, I saw her more as a brat that you need to take care of because they can't handle the consequences of their actions. Being attracted to mean girls was not what I expected, but it does match the dynamic that I like, replacing the aloofness with maliciousness but still keeping a side to discover behind closed doors.
>I can see them as being very playful. Genies are only somewhat related
Makes sense. I do think all three somewhat match the "opening up" in some way. Myconids bounce around, but, rather than their plans backfiring, they do change their disposition after husband hunting. Pandas, on the other hand, have their mischievous nature toned down towards being playful, but still trick people by disguising it as play. One that eventually awakens a primal need for a different type of play. This whole "changes when they find their husband" could be descriptive of all mamono, but as you've said, mamonos have a lot more in common than you think. It probably helps that they're both described as very cuddly, but probably not enough to displace my bias.
>Keep in mind this is just how I read them. Feel free to disagree.
It's always nice to see a different reading. Different perspectives help deepen one's understanding by revealing something the original person may not have seen, like in this case.
