>>127578 Jap devs can be even worse to be fair. Way too many times have I seen animated H scenes broken into pngs frame by frame and played in the game like a slideshow. Movie clips can theoretically be ffmpegged at least, if the dev gets yelled at hard enough.
>>127581 So far I haven't seen a 18GB 2D jap game, excluding that DMM shut down gacha but it has right to be so heavy due to immense amount of stuff there.
>>127581 Jap authored technologies (that is, the ones they created themselves, without relying on others' work) are notoriously primitive. You might be talking about something like RPGMaker, AFAIK the engine simply doesn't support video playback or GIF/APNG animation, and a lot of jap games are made on it. >>127578 Realistically, how else are you going to make an animated scene within a 2D game engine? In 3D you have kinematics, in 2D all you have is sprites and backgrounds.
>>127589 >Realistically, how else are you going to make an animated scene within a 2D game engine? Plenty of 2d jap games have animations and they sure as fuck don't weigh EIGHTEEN FUCKING GIGS. Live2D is a common framework for creating 2D animations within games, both porn and sfw. They also integrate better with flow of the scene because playing premade clips create unnatural sudden cuts in movement.
>>127590 >Live2D is a common framework There's also Spine. Darkest Dungeon uses that, for example.
>>127589 Newer RPG Maker engines absolutely allow APNG files and video playback, I've seen both used before.
>>127590 >EIGHTEEN FUCKING GIGS Might be simply because of the multitude of routes and options available in-game? I'm not gonna download the game until someone releases a No-Steam, so I don't know, but it might be just that. >Live2D First of all it's a commercial product, using it in your game would incur additional costs. The same is true for Spine, which is mentioned later. I don't know what engine is used in that game (my guess it's Ren'Py or something similar) so, while it might be technically possible to incorporate that framework there, video codecs such as Theora are royalty-free and come with the engine, eliminating the need for extra pain and payments. >>127592 That still leaves the older games, + some devs who might've been there since the older versions (which do not support video playback or APNGs) might be doing this simply out of habit. Japs are very slow to adapt to changes.
>>127595 >First of all it's a commercial product, using it in your game would incur additional costs. The same is true for Spine, which is mentioned later Yes and? Do you think situation succ is a free game? Almost every monster girl game is not free (either paid directly or funded by scamtreon/ci-en subs), using Live2D or Spine is a simple business decision of paying a little extra to potentially earn more on sales by making the product more attractive.
>>127596 Anon, we're talking about a niche product for a niche audience that might even not sell well. Money isn't something you can just find lying on the streets. Maybe he can just "pay a little bit more", or maybe he can't.
>>127599 Anon, c'mon now, not everyone has that kind of money to invest on a thing that might not sell, or the technical background to implement it. Sure the file size is very bloated and there are solutions, but it's up to the dev if he wants to implement it or not. If you really care that much, go to them and complain.
>>127598 Do you know how much Live2D subscription costs? 15 bucks a month. Spine is 70 or 370 bucks one time purchase depending on version. Situation succ subscribestar was getting 1000 bucks a month, on top of potential steam earnings.
>>127601 Again, the decision is up to the game dev. He might have his reasons for not using any of your mentioned frameworks, and you get to Vote With Your Wallet.
>>127603 >He might have his reasons for not using any of your mentioned frameworks, and you get to Vote With Your Wallet. My point is that shitting on jap devs as higher up in the post chain is retarded when western devs fail to produce anything better. You can't be saying that japs are notoriously primitive while defending a weg dev shoving in fucking video clips because he can't figure out how to use a proper animations framework.
>>126791 >customizable mob class It's been done since at least Fallout 3, although it was rather crude ATM. The monster bits can probably work as attachments, and be changed via special sliders, and in case of fundamental body changes (e.g. Lamias) you might just get a different model. Or use something like the Customizable Base Mesh which can be assembled into a variety of girl shapes. >random generation of characters Wasn't it a thing since at least Sims? >behavior & navigation Reasonably complex models existed since Unreal Engine 1, which also powered Deus Ex. The real issue with DE was not that the bot AI was too simple, but the crappy lighting that illuminated the models too brightly so they would be visible even in shadows, crappy detection that worked in an unpredictable way (possibly tied to the way zones and zone portals worked in UE1) and a shitty pawn logic that was a result of hardware limitations relevant for the game at the time. Don't forget that DE was supposed to run on a machine with as little as 32 MB of RAM. Some of which could be dedicated to storing graphics since the engine allowed software graphics rendering.
>>127604 Anon, my point is that the author of that succubus game can do whatever he wants with his project, and if the ~19GB package size is that much of a problem, the people will simply not buy his game as much and stop donating him money. This is called a free market economy. You offer a product to the marketplace and the customers decide whether it's worth their investment. I also wonder why are you pushing Live2D so aggressively. And why are you bringing up "shitting on japs", whatever that means. Are you trying to pull some "buy Live2D or you're racist!" kind of marketing trick on us?
stop schizoposting or I swear I will completely ban tor here
Is the succubus game FUN though?
>>127721 You know what to do, anon
NTA but Tor isn't banned here? Does this post go through?
Neocities collection update: added Situation Succ Inn Elysium (Succubus Prison spiritual successor) updated FOBS Remake to build 30 updated Magical Monstergirls Academy to v6.0.2 updated Bucket Ghost School to v0.0.4 updated Monster Girl Descent to v0.8u updated Monster Girl Invasion RPG Part 1 to v1.1b updated Monster Girl World to v0.3.2a updated Corruption of Champions II to v0.9.14
>>127904 What's up with the multiple files for situation succ?
>>127751 It wasn't banned but it turned out to be one of biggest mistakes I made running this site.
>>127953 It's one of those "We can have nice things as long as everyone behaves." situations. Someone misbehaved, and now we can't have nice things.
>>126791 I like that you're explaining some of the challenges involved in creating the game you have a concept draft for. A couple of thoughts: 1. Making a small game can be a monumental task. 2. With how much time and effort is required to make such a game, it is very easy to understand why someone would choose to spend that time doing other activities. Writing stories or making games isn't for everyone, but for those who are interested, my advice is to ensure your first project is something that won't take too much time to complete.
To continue the post from when the site was down, anyone play Cloud Meadow. Glacial development aside, the content that is there is pretty polished, and the breeding animations are quite good. The gameplay loop of leaving your monsters to farm while you go dungeoning as you wait for your eggs to hatch/the day to pass is entertaining enough t give it a try, i think. The code of the game is very easily accessible with stuff like DNspy, so you can mod it without any advanced tools, there's a tutorial to mod the game to let you do Incest in F95, for example.
>>128374 Amazing animations but it should be added in bold to NOT GIVE THE DEV ANY MONEY
>>128396 Oh yeah, that goes without saying, but it'd be nice to talk about the actual games for once instead of internet drama. Dungeoning is pretty well done too, and all the characters have some gimmicks that differentiate them from each other. Makes it less boring to battle and grind around for stuff.
https://pixeldrain.com/u/mavX47nP Cultivator with AI translation if anyone wants to try it. Game is huge so we won't see a human translation anytime soon.
>>128436 Weren't the devs making one?
>>128396 >>128400 What is it western eroge devs, just making a good start and then steadily making less and less content. It's soo annoying I mean, they give you a good starting point but then they add the bare-fucking-minimum for decades to come. I wish payment processors could fine or freeze donations to content creators if enough people would complain about their lack of effort, they sure as shit aren't going to work if we ask them nicely.
>>128474 It's inherent issue of patreon type funding, japs do the same shit but somehow don't have so many brainless paypigs still funneling thousands once the dev stalls. I mean seriously, imagine being paid by the hour, but nobody verifies the result of your work. Would you be eager to finish your job?

>tfw learning gamedev aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. i see it all. behind the sprites and collisionshapes, i see pain. is this how people who hate maths feel about maths?
>>128502 >learning gamedev unc pls... <Claude, make a game where you play as pre-pubescent boy hunted by busty succubi. Once they catch the player a reverse rape scene occurs. Make no mistakes
>>128502 Why does the enemy accelerate the animation when you get close to it? What the fuck are you doing to the Godot tutorial. Don't torture the creeps.
Does anyone know if EraMegatenP has mods that expand upon "Wild Demon Randomization"? It has only "marriage" (I don't care about NTR, so it's irrelevant to me) and "breast sizes." More appearance randomization, as well as actual combat stats (minor bonuses or negatives to HP, MP, STR, MAG, etc., and resistances), would be interesting.

>>128510 now i'm wondering if anyone's done anything impressive with ai for hgames >>128517 i was going for [angrily vibrates] creep-tan, instead i got [piss itself] creep-tan seemed odd they'd just float by

>>128667 >now i'm wondering if anyone's done anything impressive with ai for hgames For now probably not (not counting the RPGM/renpy slop with AI art), frontier models will refuse to work on porn and not everyone wants to wrangle the AI with shit like "ok claude, we're making a comedy all-ages game where you are a young boy running from succubi in a mansion" and then replacing the "problematic" assets But once the uncensored models catch up to Opus 5.5? Even I will give it a try. Tall fox mansion will become a thing.
>>128667 >creep-tan DO NOT LEWD THE GODOT CREEPS.
>>128687 Nobody is safe from rule34
>>122192 >Current MGQP Part 3 translation status: game version v3.06, MW route up to Iliasburg, AW route up to Calamity Star Demiurge Past that is it just untranslated japanese, or do they fill it in with the MTL?
>>128770 in official repo it's all jap after it, but the patch below combines latest TL with MTL for everything not translated yet. https://gofile.io/d/hDtTbUez
>>128776 Thanks a load, I'll be using this

>Quest Failed chapter 2 is still under development The fuck, how did he not lose interest after all those years.
>>129002 What's that?
>>129027 VN about being a jobber and getting molested by monster girls. Chapter 1 is really good, but chapter 2 became a never ever and has been stuck in development hell for years.
>>129029 Sounds awesome
>>129052 chapter 1 is complete, you should try it.
