She has some backstory but it isn't that extensive, but in short is that she is from a small village of harpies from some mountains to the west, and until her teens she was like any other harpy chick, but after she hit her growth spurt everyone could see she wasn't like the rest in her small clan.
Unlike other possible harpy variants, harpies from this region are very slim and petite as it makes their agility and flying abilities better, but Maererin's bust kept on growing, making it harder and harder for her to fly. This lead to her staying closer to the ground, or not flying at all. Leading her to see her kin soar in the mountain peaks above while she remained firmly on the ground.
She wasn't totally struck by her fate as being a harpy she could still, albeit being limited to only flying for short bursts or just gliding between the peaks and tall places, this all lead Maererin to see the world in a different light than the rest of her clan, leading to a growing wanderlust within her to explore the world while the rest of her people were content within their nesting grounds in the mountains.
All in all she is an optimistic and cheerful birb who likes to explore and wander/fly around, meeting new friends and companions along the way.
